Leah Berman, RP

Registered Psychotherapist

I chose this work because I genuinely love helping people and believe everyone deserves the opportunity to live the life they want — one that feels secure, fulfilling, and emotionally stable. I’m deeply interested in how people come to understand themselves, and how early relationships shape the way we cope, connect, and see ourselves later in life. Many of the struggles people face are not personal failures, but learned ways of surviving, and I find meaning in helping clients approach these patterns with compassion rather than shame. What I find most meaningful about this work is supporting clients as they develop a stronger, more secure relationship with themselves. When people begin to understand the why behind their patterns, things often start to soften — anxiety becomes more manageable, self-criticism quiets, and there’s more room for choice and growth. Watching clients build emotional safety, self-trust, and stability within themselves is what continues to motivate me as a therapist. When working with me, clients can expect a space that is warm, attuned, and collaborative. I support clients in understanding the why behind their patterns while also building the how — practical, embodied tools for emotional regulation, boundaries, and self-compassion. I work at a pace that respects your nervous system, balancing insight with skills that can be applied in everyday life. Therapy with me is not about being rushed or fixed, but about being understood, supported, and gently challenged in ways that feel safe and sustainable. My hope is that therapy becomes a place where you can feel grounded, gain clarity, and move forward with greater confidence, ease, and a deeper sense of security in yourself and your life.

Professional Experience

I work with individuals who feel stuck in recurring emotional patterns such as anxiety, depression, low self-worth, relationship difficulties, parenting difficulties and chronic stress. Many of my clients are thoughtful and self-aware, yet find themselves reacting in ways that don’t align with who they want to be or how they want to feel. My work is informed by attachment theory, as early relational experiences often shape how we relate to ourselves, regulate emotions, and connect with others. I specialize in helping clients move toward earned secure attachment, developing greater emotional safety, self-trust, and stability within themselves and in their relationships. I support clients in understanding the why behind their patterns while also building the how — practical, embodied tools to support emotional regulation, boundaries, and self-compassion. This balance helps change feel not only insightful, but also usable and sustainable in everyday life. I have experience supporting individuals through life stressors and transitional phases, including changes in relationships, work or school transitions, and periods of uncertainty or overwhelm. Therapy with me focuses on creating meaningful, lasting change — not just symptom relief, but a deeper sense of grounding, resilience, and self-connection. My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and paced to your nervous system, honoring both where you’ve been and where you want to go.

Therapeutic Modalities

I take an integrative, approach, tailoring therapy to each individual rather than relying on a single modality. Depending on your needs, I draw from: Attachment-based therapy Trauma-informed and trauma-processing approaches Somatic therapy and nervous system regulation Internal Family Systems (IFS) & Ego States work Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) This blend allows us to work both top-down and bottom-up, addressing thoughts, emotions, body responses, and relational patterns to create change that feels safer, deeper, and more sustainable.
